After a trip, appetite can feel unpredictable. Airport food, late meals, time-zone changes and restaurant portions can disrupt your normal rhythm. The fastest route back to normal is usually a normal routine, not a detox.
Return to regular meal times
Start eating breakfast, lunch and dinner around your usual local schedule. You do not need to compensate for vacation meals by skipping the next day.
Bring back familiar foods
Choose meals you know make you feel comfortable: a protein source, vegetables or fruit, a carbohydrate and fluids. Simple food can feel appealing after several days of restaurant meals.
Do not overcorrect with restriction
Extreme fasting or cutting entire food groups can create another swing in hunger and energy. Give appetite a few days to settle.
Hydrate normally
Resume your usual drinking pattern and use thirst, weather and activity as guides. There is no need for special cleansing drinks.
Restart movement gently
A normal walk can help re-establish routine after sitting during travel. Avoid using punishing exercise to compensate for food.
